Who of you all are running or participating here in Marathon for the 1st time. and if this is the first time then how all you are practicing for it. How many hours daily. I have already started but its difficult still for me to think 7 kms. I am done with 3kms of daily running schedule and its difficult to expand from there.
Re: Who all are running in Marathon for the first time.
I 2 am running ADHM'09 for the first time. First of all,yr decision in itself toparticipate in 7 k marathon shows yr interest and will towards running. Reaching 3 k stage, u r already about half way through the distance parameter. Also, now even,a month is available 4 upgradingto 7 k, its certain dat u'l reach the 7 k threshold.Keeping my experience in view, what i can suggest uis to increase your running distance by400 metre at a time, and RUNNING ON ALTERNATE DAYS, which wil easily enable u to reach the7 k mark in about 20 days from now. Any more distance - increase in one go would invite running injury, n shud b avoided. Also, hydrate well, take adequate rest n follow pre n post running stretching regime religiously.Last but not d least, keep yr motivation-level high! Its definite dat u 'l be ready 4 the race, by say, 20/10/09. Keepus updatedabout yr gradual increase in running.Al the best 4 yr run ahead.

Re: Who all are running in Marathon for the first time.
I am running Marathon for the first time. I have been practicing regularly and really enjoy running. Here are few tips for running on the race day. Start on a slow pace for the first 1K and then slowly increase the speed. Take breath through nose and leave through the mouth. Set the mind to any of your favorate song or keep thinking about any happy incident. If you are a regular runner you need not to worry about your stamina or the energy. You can very well keep them in control. Except that the pulse rate and the breath, which you have to take care from the start. Normaly after a few distance running it sets.Never do any hard excercise before the race.Do the warmup in such a way that your legs, hands and the body becomes flexible and fit for runing. Well, best of LUCK. Don't miss to see me on 1st. Nov.
Re: Who all are running in Marathon for the first time.
hey although m not getting tym to prepare for marathon. i know i'll complete it. but the timing will matter.. what you think would b a good timing to complete 7km strech?
i hope weather wud b fine that day.
ATB to all!
Re: Who all are running in Marathon for the first time.
I ran in the dream run last year and it was great experience.Infact those who are still sceptical about making it through the race,if you ask me,the tempo there will take you through.7 kms is just a figure and nothing else. Its all up there in the mind.Last year I couldnot practise at all due to ultra tight schedule but managed to complete it.Even my wife who was not all in the mood of even participating ran through it very very comfortably. This year am running for 21 kms.Looking forward to it..
Great luck all and enjoy to the fullest !
