People say different things about how long to run before actually running the 21K on the Half Marathon day. Most coaches advise doing 75% of the target distance once before the run, so for the half marathon, that is 16KM. What do folks here plan to run as their longest training run before running the half marathon on Nov 1st. My training plan has a 19KM run just a week before the half marathon day (following the HAL HIGDON Half Marathon Intermediate training plan).
Also, it would be interesting to hear what other plans do the folks here follow, there are training plans from Runners World, Jeff Galloway,Time-To-Run, Hal Higdon, and so many more, whats your favorite?
I have put together some of the training plans together at below location for easy reference:
I do a 10k 4 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Sundays is a long run, anywhere over 35k. The Mumbai Marathon is what I am aiming for (completed it last year, want to do it again this year to show it wasn't as fluke.)
What's your usual distance?
Re: Whats your longest run distance for this ADHM?
Vishwas, I usually follow a 5 days a week running schedule, where 3 days of running in the weekdays are usually smaller runs, 5-8 KM long. Weekend runs are on both Sat/Sun, with the Sunday run being the longer run, ranging from 12-18KM when training for the Half Marathon.

Would be great to meet up @ ADHM. What's your running number? Mine is 4623. How about meeting up, maybe at the expo itself, when i come around the 29th?
I've sent my mobile number as a private message to you.
BTW, are you doing Mumbai this year?

Re: Whats your longest run distance for this ADHM?
Vishwas, my no is easy to remember 4004! I am planning to visit expo on the 31st. I am doing Mumbai too, 42K there, I hope we get the opportunity to run over the newly constructed sea-link, that would be really fun! You must have heard they had a Formula-1 stageshow on the sea-link, though I believe Mumbai marathon will not get the permissions.
Saket, You are already doing great with those long runs, I would not suggest anything new, just keep putting in one long run in the range if 15-21 every week, and you will have a great run on Nov 1st. All the best! Go for a sub-2 hours time target!
