RIP London’s Oldest Marathon Runner, Eva Barr Who Passes Away At The Age Of 93

Iva Barr, from Bedford, used to be an active member of Bedford Harriers Athletics Club and ran in marathons for good 30 years. In 1981, she participated in her first marathon (London Marathon).

The club informed, “She encouraged and was an inspiration to many of our older and younger runners.” Four years ago, she took part in 2016 London Marathon, which was her 20th time, and later, she announced that this was her last time.

She once said, “I rather wanted to go out in a blaze of glory. That didn’t happen, but I still had a great day.” The veteran runner was an inspiration to one and all.
