Swiss professional trail runner Andrea Huser’s body was recovered on November 29, by a special search and rescue unit in the Swiss Alps. As per a local press release, Huser allegedly lost the grip of her foot as she was trying to cross a stream on a slope underneath the Alpin Express gondola. In such a case, she must have fallen from an estimated height of 450 feet. We lost the able runner at a young age of 46.
Her capabilities were not just limited to trail running. 18 years ago, she became the inaugural women’s winner in the marathon category of the European Mountain Biking Championships.
Her death is a safety reminder for all the trail runners. Hills and mountains could be tricky.
