The Boston Marathon will be held on Oct. 11 if road runs are permitted to be held as per Massachusetts’ COVID-19 restrictions.
The Boston Athletic Association expressed a sense of optimism indicating that the event is quite likely to take place. In 2020, the marathon was first postponed for two months and then eventually canceled for the first time in its history. The organizers, however, are waiting for an approval from a number of cities and towns that are part of the marathon route.
Gov. Charlie Baker, a Republican informed, “Massachusetts continues to fight COVID-19 and distribute vaccines across the commonwealth, and with brighter days ahead, we are looking forward to getting back to a new normal in 2021.”
