New safety measures introduced by Monument Marathon’s organizers

Platte Valley Companies Monument Marathon is fast approaching and will be held on Sept 26 this year. Race organizers have introduced new health and safety measures for runners and volunteers keeping the apprehensions of COVID-19 pandemic into consideration.

One of the organizers Reisig said, “We usually have aid station volunteers wearing gloves and face coverings handing out food, water and Gatorade. This year, they will have an extended arm with a glass of water or Gatorade so the runners can just grab it as they run by.”

Unlike the previous marathons, the runners will not be able to source tablets from the aid stations. For example, energy gels won’t be available at these stations. They will be distributed in the runners’ bags, which they would receive when checking in.
