The Mumbai Marathon, which is a World Athletics Elite Label Road Race, has witnessed some of the top runners from around the world coming together to take part in the competition for over the years.
It is usually held on the third Sunday of January. However, last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the race couldn’t take place.
This year too, following the increase in coronavirus cases in Mumbai, the marathon was pushed for May 30. But with the current situation of cases spiking more than ever before amidst the second wave of COVID-19, the promoters of the race – Procam International – have been forced to push the marathon once again.
Although the date is yet to be announced, the organizers are determined to deliver the 2021 Edition in its truest sense.
If held before the cut off date of May 31, Mumbai Marathon 2021 would have acted as a qualifier for the Tokyo Olympics.
