Calicut Half Marathon will be held in April; Robin Uthappa To Get IIM Kozhikode National Excellence Award

The twelfth version of the Calicut Half Marathon conducted annually by IIM Kozhikode has now been deferred to 9th – 11th April 2021 due to some inevitable situation. Previously, the marathon was programmed for 19th – 21st March 2021. The management institution will also be bestowing cricketer Mr. Robin Uthappa with IIMK’s ‘National Excellence Award’ this year. The event is being held virtually for the first time in twelve years.

The National Excellence award is a model of IIM Kozhikode’s visionary mnemonic – the ‘Arise Arjuna’ statue. Mr. Robin Uthappa has been selected as the beneficiary of this award for his unmatched role in shaping Indian Cricket. He has led his team with resilience, focus, and a strong sense of will that correspond with the myth of Arjuna. The honor was initiated 2 years ago. The first winner was Dr. Deepa Malik who has secured more than half a hundred national and close to two dozen international medals. She is also the first Indian woman to champion a medal in the Paralympic Games. The second winner is Ms. Babita Kumari Phogat, who won the Silver medals at Commonwealth Games twice and also championed the 2012 World Wrestling Championships.

The event aims to lay a focus on promoting physical and mental health. Visit www.calicutmarathon.in and https://reg.myraceindia.com/MRTS/chm2021 to know more.
