The 60-year-old senior neurosurgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Dr. Rajesh Acharya started running in half marathons after crossing the age of 50. He has happily finished more than 60 half marathons during the last 7 years.
A regular runner and health fanatic, the medico ran his 60th half marathon on his 60th birthday (Nov 01, 2020). He stated, “Doctors often have long working hours, sedentary lifestyle and at times bad food habits. Health and fitness is the key to a long, active and enjoyable life.”
He laid a special focus on active lifestyle in times like these when strong immunity is crucial for keeping Coronavirus at bay. Dr. Acharya also informed, “We are seeing an increase in incidence of stroke due to Covid.” However, running on a regular basis can help reduce the risk of stroke.
