Running brings with itself a host of psychological and physiological benefits. However, you will not be able to reap much out of it if you are doing it wrong. As a beginner, it becomes important for you to know the proper form of running  in order to reap its full benefits. Even if you have been a runner for a long time, there is no harm in skimming through these points and rectifying any oversight.

1. Take up the Run-Walk Method

It is important to prepare yourself for running. Remember that everything takes time and you need to start slowly. Initially, try running for a few minutes and follow it up with a few minutes of walking. As a beginner, this could be a good point of departure.

2. Warm Yourself Up

A warm-up helps increase blood circulation and body-temperature, which in turn helps prepare your body for physical exercise. A ten to fifteen-minute warm-up session will help loosen your muscles and make your workout session a lot easier.

3. Start Slowly

Once you get comfortable with your regime, try to take it up a notch. You can either increase the number of times you run in a week or you can increase your total workout time. However, do not do both things together. Remember to take it slow.

4. The Correct Bearing

Make sure that you are looking straight while you are running, as looking down puts pressure on your back. Your elbows should be close to your body at a ninety-degree angle. Also, make sure that your breathing is rhythmic and your body is getting a consistent supply of oxygen.

5. Don’t give up

There would be times when you’ll feel discouraged, especially in the beginning. Be focused and remind yourself of the reasons why you started running in the first place. With time, you will feel mentally and emotionally strong. Remember that consistency is key.

6. Gear Up

The right pair of sports shoes will ensure that your workout is both pain and injury-free. Wear clothes that are both stretchable and supportive.

Now that you have read all these points and have prepared your mind, all you need to do is pick the right music and get started!
